Since early years, even decades before victory of Islamic revolution, Imam often used to visit the holy city of Mashhad during summers.
This memoirs goes back to Imam’s stay in the holy city during the blessed month of Ramadan.
It was a blessed month of Ramadan during a summer season. The Goharshad Mosque inside Imam Reza (‘a) holy shrine was full of pilgrims until dawn.
Ayatollah Vaezzadeh Khorasani recalled that pilgrims did not sleep at night to take spiritual advantage of the night and slept during the day instead.
I used to go to the mosque at the holy shrine where great preachers used to address the pilgrims from the pulpit. One of those speakers was my own father, he said.
Inside the space and courtyard of the mosque, there were people who were praying and reciting supplications.
I often saw Imam had thrown his robes on the ground and was sitting in the middle of the crowd.
Several hours later, when I was returning and passing by there, I saw him still sitting and praying and reciting the holy Quran, Khorasani recounted.
I was very surprised by Imam’s patience and perseverance, that he was so devoted to prayer and worship.
It is worth mentioning that Imam used to maintain that the worship should be performed with great insight and depth.
